A CSC Corptax Case Study
Brother International Corporation’s (BIC) 2020 compliance season exposed inefficient, error-prone manual processes: they were updating Form 1118 Schedule H, Part II via User Expense Ratios, maintaining Tax Basis Assets in external Excel workpapers, and manually preparing and updating legacy Forms 5471, 8992, 8993, federal M adjustments and Form 4562, with no centralized state import capability. To solve this, BIC engaged CSC Corptax and implemented CSC Corptax International Compliance, State Compliance, and Corptax Office.
CSC Corptax centralized and automated BIC’s tax data—bringing Tax Basis Assets and M adjustments into Corptax, auto-updating Form 1118, using NextGen Forms 5471/8992/8993, automating federal M adjustments and Form 4562, and importing state modifications via Corptax Office templates. The changes reduced risk, improved audit trails and diagnostics, and saved the four-person tax team an estimated 140 hours annually (60 hours from automating state modifications/apportionment, 60 hours from NextGen forms, and 20 hours from federal automation).
