GE Appliances - Customer Case Study

GE Appliances needed to build a tax team from scratch after being sold by General Electric, but had no internal tax compliance function in place. To meet urgent state and local return deadlines, the company initially relied on outside resources and manual processes to handle apportionment, modifications, payments, and complex combined returns. CSC Corptax and its Corptax Office product were brought in to help manage the transition.

CSC Corptax implemented Corptax Office to automate data import and flow from federal to state returns, with support from Corptax Professional Services to build workpapers for apportionment, modifications, and payments. The result was 100% in-house preparation of state and local returns, about 50% reduction in state compliance hours in year one, and another 15% reduction in year two after automating intercompany eliminations. GE Appliances also reduced manual-entry risk, increased confidence in filings, and saved more than $50K annually on outside accounting-firm support.
