Courage Production boosts hot dog yields 2% with CSB-System AG

Courage Production, a California-based meat processor specializing in hot dogs and beef jerky, faced the challenge of minimizing losses and inefficiencies across its production chain. To better support government regulations and improve documentation, the company partnered with vendor CSB-System AG to implement its ERP software as the foundation for a comprehensive digital optimization program.

The solution from CSB-System involved coherent data capture throughout production, including a project to weigh smoking carts to precisely measure weight loss in different smoke houses. This data was fed into the CSB ERP system for analysis, allowing Courage to optimize which products were sent to which smoke house for the highest yield. The results included a 2% increase in hot dog yields and a 1% reduction in water loss for beef jerky, which added up to major cost savings and minimized losses. CSB-System's Advanced Planning and Scheduling module also enabled optimal utilization of production lines.
