Credit Agricole issues nearly 100,000 EMV cards per day with Cryptomathic

Crédit Agricole, a major French bank, faced the challenge of migrating its entire card base to EMV® compliance to meet new European deadlines set by Visa and MasterCard. Their previous chip cards were not EMV® compliant, limiting international use. The task required issuing new multi-application smart cards with debit, credit, and e-purse functionality while maintaining high security and interoperability. To solve this, CEDICAM, acting for Crédit Agricole, selected Cryptomathic and its product CardInk.

Cryptomathic delivered a solution that integrated into the existing environment, supporting EMV® data preparation, Common Personalization, and high-volume production. The result was the secure issuance of nearly 100,000 multi-application cards per day, enabling Crédit Agricole to rapidly roll out EMV®-compliant cards to its 12 million customers while maintaining operational flexibility and a high level of security.
