A Cryoserver Case Study
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), a long-term Cryoserver customer, was struggling with rapidly growing email volumes and an archive dating back to the late 1990s. Their Exchange environment had become slow and unresponsive, frequent quota requests consumed IT time, and legacy mail stores were costly to retain and hard to search or migrate.
Cryoserver applied stubbing and retention policies (working back from the oldest messages up to attachments 2–3 months old), slimming the database from about 850 GB to roughly 250 GB — a ~65% reduction — and removing the need for disruptive mailbox quotas. The smaller stores sped up migrations and searches, cut downstream spending, and multiplied savings across seven backup copies of the database.
