Chep UK Limited, a global leader in supply chain logistics, faced a challenge with its Managed Exchange programme. The process relied on paper-based Proof of Deliveries (PODs), which created a significant time lag in reconciliations and required customers to spend time managing equipment. Crown Records Management was commissioned to design a digital solution to bring greater transparency and efficiency to this process.

Crown implemented a system using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) to automatically extract printed and handwritten data from the PODs. The solution provided CHEP with scanned images on a secure hosting platform and automatically generated spreadsheets to quickly identify discrepancies. As a result, Crown's system reduced the time to confirm pallet collections from many weeks to just ten days, improving efficiency and customer satisfaction.
