Case Study: REWE achieves a group-wide Innovation Network and rapid digital innovation with CrowdWorx

A CrowdWorx Case Study

Preview of the REWE Case Study

How to deliver digital innovations within a large multi-group corporation

REWE, one of Europe’s largest retailers (300,000+ employees, €61.2bn revenue), faced fragmented innovation efforts across many business units and departments with limited coordination and no unifying strategic vision. In 2016 REWE engaged CrowdWorx to tackle this challenge, leveraging CrowdWorx’s innovation consulting and idea-management expertise to realign and professionalize its innovation activities.

CrowdWorx ran a focused program (weeks 1–4) with 30+ participants to perform a status-quo analysis, co-design a group-wide innovation framework, and produce a high‑quality visualization of an "Innovation Network," which was presented to and funded by top management. As a result of CrowdWorx’s work, REWE now operates a formal Innovation Network that tests new business models in short cycles, has spun off successful start-ups, integrated innovations like app and in‑store grocery delivery into operations, and achieved record growth and improved profitability.
