How Fresenius transformed to Digital Manufacturing

Fresenius Kabi, a global leader in medical products, faced rising manufacturing complexity as customers demanded more customized and varied products while maintaining zero-error standards. To modernize its factories with AI, sensor networks, Big Data and agile processes, Fresenius Kabi engaged CrowdWorx and its Digital Consulting services and tools to kick off a scalable Digital Transformation.

CrowdWorx ran a co‑innovation program (lead department, global innovation campaign, fast pilot implementation) that tested digital manufacturing pilots—co‑bots, full sensor grids, AI feedback loops and agile planning teams. The pilots delivered strong results and, when extrapolated to a full roll‑out, show an expected ~78% (almost 80%) increase in unit profitability along with faster validation, greater flexibility, fewer defects and a stronger digital culture. CrowdWorx’s approach enabled Fresenius Kabi to move from pilot to group‑wide scaling.
