A CrowdStrike Case Study
The Illinois State Treasurer’s Office, which manages roughly $38 billion in public funds, modernized its IT estate—cutting servers by over 90% and reducing costs and emissions—but its incumbent security tool produced nearly 30,000 false positives a day that overwhelmed the in-house team and threatened the agency’s “security first” objectives.
Following a rapid proof of concept, the office replaced the legacy tools with the cloud-native CrowdStrike Falcon platform and lightweight agents, delivering a single-pane-of-glass view, minimal operational impact and enhanced threat intelligence. The deployment stopped 27 ransomware tests and a live backup-server attack, improved resource utilization so the solution paid for itself in under a year, and reinforced the treasurer’s security-first strategy.
