A CrowdStrike Case Study
Ashland University, a private institution in Ashland, Ohio, needed to preserve open academic freedom while protecting intellectual property, core services and systems. Its legacy, signature‑based security offered limited visibility and could not reliably detect unknown malware, and the growing number of personal devices on campus increased risk and reduced control.
In 2017 the university deployed the CrowdStrike Falcon platform across roughly 2,000 endpoints, gaining real‑time visibility, automated agent updates and cloud‑based threat intelligence. The solution streamlined investigations and response, helped prevent a zero‑day within 12 hours of its emergence, and enabled the security team to identify and mitigate an infected endpoint before it could spread.
