How SCS Software mastered localization into 47 languages and reached non-English speaking players

SCS Software, the Prague-based studio behind American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2, faced growing localization complexity as their games and player base expanded worldwide. They needed a solution that supported branches/versioning, automated delivery, and easy community collaboration — requirements unmet by their previous tools — so they turned to Crowdin’s localization platform (using Crowdin API, version management and Translation Memory) to streamline the process.

Using Crowdin, SCS Software synced JSON files, leveraged branches and version management, and opened projects to community translators while keeping quality control via approvals and translation memory. The result: both PC games and Steam achievements are localized into 47 languages with automated content delivery and repo integration, a project of 200+ contributors handling 5,000+ strings, and roughly 70% of players now coming from non-English speaking countries — all enabled by Crowdin.
