How GrandPad translated their tablet, two mobile apps, and web portal into 38 languages

GrandPad, a Minneapolis-based tech company that builds a simplified touch‑screen tablet for seniors, faced a scaling challenge: manually localizing their tablet UI, two companion mobile apps and web portal into new languages was slow, error-prone, and fragmented across teams. To solve this, GrandPad selected Crowdin and its localization management platform—leveraging Translation Memory, machine pre-translation (Google Translate), automated content delivery and APIs—to bring localization into their development workflow.

Using Crowdin integrated with their build system (and tools like Bamboo and Figma), GrandPad set up a streamlined process of TM pre‑translation, professional translation and proofreading, and automated pulls of translated strings. Crowdin enabled real‑time tracking and collaboration, accelerating releases and design reviews; as a result GrandPad localized its products into nearly 40 languages, launched localized tablet and apps plus a web portal, supported expansion with 3+ reseller partners, and now connects over 1.4 million seniors, families and caregivers across 120 countries.
