Autodesk faced inconsistent, incomplete CRM firmographic data coming from multiple sources, and traditional data vendors could only enhance about 70% of records—leaving 30% of sales leads unclassified and sales incentives misaligned. An in‑house effort proved insufficient, so Autodesk sought a more scalable solution to deliver higher yield and quality data.
Autodesk integrated CrowdFlower (now Figure Eight) via API to crowdsource missing company information: contributors verified official URLs and added industry, company size, parent companies and contact details, with multiple answers cross‑checked into a single record. This raised data completeness from 70% to 85%, enabled transactional sales processes and better-targeted incentives, and gave Autodesk ownership of the enriched data.
