The Vurger Co, a plant-based fast-food brand founded by Rachel Hugh and Neil, needed funding to expand from market stalls and pop-ups into a full restaurant experience. Traditional fundraising channels were difficult because many investors did not yet understand the vegan food market, so they turned to Crowdcube for crowdfunding.

Using Crowdcube’s equity crowdfunding platform, The Vurger Co set a £180,000 target and rallied its growing community to support the raise. The campaign overfunded to £299,760, or 166% of target, with 275 investors and 12,000 pitch views, helping fund its first Shoreditch restaurant, later a second site in Canary Wharf, and expansion into retail.
