gohenry, the kids’ money management fintech, needed a way to fund growth while also deepening its connection with its parent-led community. To support its UK expansion and later international plans, gohenry turned to Crowdcube’s equity crowdfunding platform as an alternative to relying solely on VC funding.
Using Crowdcube, gohenry raised £10m across two rounds, including £6m in 2018 from 3,125 investors. The campaign produced highly engaged shareholder-customers: 99% of shareholders’ children downloaded the app, shareholders spent 50% more than average customers, and referrals were twice as high. The funding helped drive rapid growth, with revenue up 115% between 2016 and 2018 and over 550,000 parents and kids using the service by late 2018.
