Workers’ Credit Union, a North Central Massachusetts credit union with 240 employees serving nearly 79,000 members across 15 branches, was dealing with frequent password problems. Employees had to use lengthy passwords to access banking systems, which created security concerns and generated help desk calls for resets. The credit union wanted a more secure way to authenticate staff and reduce the burden on IT.
Workers implemented Crossmatch DigitalPersona Pro Enterprise with U.are.U 4500 Fingerprint Readers in all branches to let employees access online applications and websites with a fingerprint. Crossmatch’s solution helped eliminate password resets, improved workflow, and gave the IT help desk back two to three percent of its time. Workers also reported that employees recovered two to three percent of their time previously lost to remembering and entering passwords, while the system provided an audit trail for tracking access.
