A Crossmatch Case Study
Phoenix Police Department needed a way to meet the FBI Criminal Justice Information System requirement for two-factor authentication on mobile devices while still giving officers access to criminal records in the field. Before the deployment, access was limited to desktops at police stations and headquarters, and the department also wanted to support a strong password policy without making password management harder for users.
Crossmatch provided DigitalPersona Pro and U.are.U. Fingerprint Readers to deliver multi-factor authentication managed through Active Directory. With fingerprint biometrics on existing notebooks, Phoenix Police Department personnel can access criminal justice information from the field, forgotten password helpdesk calls have been significantly reduced, and the department has increased the return on its previously purchased computers.
