Leading Drug Store Chain, a U.S. retailer with over 4,500 stores, needed a better way to manage authentication in its pharmacies and at point-of-sale terminals. Before working with Crossmatch, pharmacy staff used passwords throughout the prescription workflow, but passwords could be shared and were burdensome to enter repeatedly, making it hard to track who handled each prescription and slowing productivity.

Crossmatch implemented U.are.U fingerprint readers for pharmacy sign-on and workflow authentication, then expanded the solution to more than 15,000 biometrically enabled POS terminals. The system improved accountability, speed, and security, helped reduce fraud and shrinkage through manager fingerprint approvals, and allowed employees to serve customers faster with shorter lines.
