Case Study: Large State Superior Court System achieves high-quality biometric courtroom identification with Crossmatch

Large State Superior Court System - Customer Case Study

A large state Superior Court System needed a better way to handle courtroom identification, since in-court fingerprinting was still largely ink on paper and often produced unusable prints for matching against the state’s AFIS database. The court joined a grant-backed pilot with Crossmatch to test whether digital fingerprinting could improve identification in the courtroom.

Crossmatch provided Guardian fingerprint scanners, MOBS software, and installation and training services that integrated with the court’s existing PC and printer hardware. The pilot was deemed a success, the court chose to make the solution a more permanent part of its procedure, and a system with eight courtrooms could be deployed in as quickly as four weeks, including training. The high-quality fingerprints met the state’s “gap filler” standards, and the court system later published a white paper supporting biometric identification in courtrooms.
