First Bank, a community bank based in Southern Pines, North Carolina, needed a better way to meet the strict login requirements of its hosted core banking system. The bank also wanted to reduce the time spent on complex password changes and frequent help desk resets, while making access easier for employees working across its branches.

First Bank implemented Crossmatch DigitalPersona Pro authentication software and U.are.U 4500 fingerprint readers throughout its branches. With Crossmatch, password creation time dropped from 15 minutes or longer to 15 seconds on average, help desk password reset calls decreased, and employees were able to log on to any workstation with a fingerprint, improving productivity and customer service.
