Charleston County Sheriff’s Office - Customer Case Study

Charleston County Sheriff’s Office needed strong two-factor authentication to meet the FBI’s CJIS mandate and secure access to sensitive information from more than 100 mobile units used in the field. The office also wanted a solution that was easy to use and could integrate with Active Directory, while reducing the burden of remembering up to 20 passwords. It turned to Crossmatch and its DigitalPersona Pro Enterprise and U.areU Fingerprint Readers.

Crossmatch implemented DigitalPersona Pro Enterprise with fingerprint readers across the Sheriff’s Office’s laptops, using Active Directory and Group Policy to manage access and settings. The result was two-factor authentication with biometric data for remote field use, easier sign-on for deputies, and seamless installation and training. Joshua Hazelton said the implementation took about an hour, and adding the secondary server took even less time.
