Total, a century-old energy and petrochemicals group, needed to consolidate and scale its e-learning strategy to meet global training and compliance needs for some 100,000 employees. After early deployments in 2002 saw limited uptake, Total turned to CrossKnowledge and chose its On-line Academy solution to modernize and centralize learning across management, finance, communication and personal development topics.

CrossKnowledge implemented a fully customized On-line Academy portal integrated with Total’s LMS and supported the rollout with a broad communications campaign. Within eight months the platform had a “new face,” the campaign reached about 60,000 employees, and active learners rose to over 20,000 by August 2013 (up from fewer than 3,700 in 2010), prompting Total to set a goal to double active users within two years and describing the relationship with CrossKnowledge as a genuine partnership.
