Well Aware, in partnership with the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, faced the challenge of helping millions of private well owners, particularly in under-resourced areas, test for dangerous water contaminants like microbes, lead, and arsenic. They partnered with CrossComm to develop a freely available mobile app paired with a low-cost testing kit to address this critical need.

CrossComm built a mobile app that utilizes machine learning and computer vision to analyze test strip images, determining contaminant risk and concentration levels. The solution empowers well owners to easily assess their water quality. The successful app is available for download, with the long-term goal of expanding its impact to vulnerable communities globally.
