Smithsonian National Museum of African Art launches interactive exhibit web apps with CrossComm for a 1-year run

The Smithsonian National Museum of African Art wanted to promote its Iké Udé: Nollywood Portraits exhibit and enhance visitor engagement by allowing them to interactively remix portraits on their mobile phones. They challenged CrossComm to develop a web-based application that would let users creatively explore the artist's process.

CrossComm designed an interactive web app accessible via QR codes, enabling users to rescale portraits, change backgrounds, and add 3D objects. The solution included social sharing features to help promote the exhibit. The app successfully launched with the exhibit in February 2022, providing a publicly accessible tool that allows visitors to create and share their own digital artwork.
