A CrossComm Case Study
Moffitt Cancer Center, a leading cancer research and treatment center, recognized a critical challenge in patient-provider communication: the needs of caregivers accompanying cancer patients were often unmet during medical visits. They partnered with CrossComm to create a digital solution, an application called PACES, aimed at helping patients and caregivers clarify their roles and improve shared-decision making with physicians.
CrossComm developed PACES as an interactive web application optimized for mobile devices. The solution translated a traditional paper-based question prompt list (QPL) into a digital format, allowing patients and caregivers to separately log in, rank questions based on their preferences, and add their own. The app merges their inputs to display visualizations of their priorities. The PACES app is currently undergoing successful pilot testing in both rural and urban settings with diverse patient populations, with preliminary feedback indicating that patients and caregivers find it very helpful. CrossComm continues to work with Moffitt to modify the application based on empirical data and feedback.
