Mercy Corps AgriFin, working in Kenya with Safaricom, needed a better way to digitise farmer and field operations at scale. Their manual, paper-based processes were cumbersome and costly, created data loss and inconsistencies, made it hard to geo-map plots accurately, and limited visibility into the activities of Digital Village Advisors (DVAs). They selected CropIn’s SmartFarm® platform to support farmer and plot data capture, geo-mapping, and field-level monitoring.

CropIn implemented SmartFarm® as a centralised farm data management solution that enabled offline data collection, multilingual support, and secure, real-time reporting for Mercy Corps AgriFin. The result was the digitisation of 97,239 plots, remote monitoring and management across Kenya, and the digital capture of more than 100,000 farmers’ records by over 3,600 DVAs; the platform also audited over 928,940 acres of farmland. CropIn’s solution improved operational efficiency, quality control, and traceability while helping Mercy Corps AgriFin scale toward its broader goal of reaching 1.4 million farmers.
