Government of Jharkhand trains 3,100 Community Cadres with Cropin

The Government of Jharkhand faced the challenge of its farmers being vulnerable to climate fluctuations and market changes due to traditional practices and limited irrigation. Partnering with the World Bank on its JOHAR project, the government worked with vendor Cropin to promote High-Value Agriculture (HVA) to improve and diversify farmer income.

Cropin developed comprehensive training materials and leveraged technology, including a deep convolutional neural network model for pest identification. The solution included training over 3,100 Community Cadres and establishing more than 5,800 demonstration plots. This empowered local knowledge banks and created agri-entrepreneurs, successfully transforming the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Jharkhand.
