West Texas A&M Protects Campus Community and Officers With SafeZone

West Texas A&M University, home to about 7,000 students, faculty and staff and already ranked among the safest U.S. campuses, wanted to further enhance security, community engagement and emergency reach across its 135‑acre main campus and three satellite locations. The WTAMU Police Department needed more than basic SMS alerts—seeking lone‑worker protection, real‑time location tracking and broader, cost‑effective functionality—so they selected CriticalArc’s SafeZone solution.

CriticalArc implemented SafeZone (with the OmniGuard command-and-control platform), delivering mass notifications, precise geolocation, lone‑worker alerts, anonymous tip reporting, wearable support and patrol heat‑mapping. Adoption rose well above the previous 10% usage level across WTAMU’s ~7,000 community members, enabling faster dispatches, improved patrol coverage, cost savings versus the old system and outcomes that included protecting the lives of two officers and faster coordination during off‑campus incidents.
