A CriticalArc Case Study
Central Queensland University partnered with CriticalArc to improve safety and security across its 25 campuses and sites spread across five Australian states. The university was juggling separate systems for mass communications, lone worker protection, and emergency calls, while also needing stronger coordination between security, occupational health and safety, communications, IT, and emergency services. CriticalArc’s SafeZone platform was introduced to unify these functions and better support a growing, geographically dispersed campus network.
With SafeZone, CriticalArc enabled joint operations between CQU’s OHS team and security staff, giving first responders more precise situational awareness, faster dispatch, and better incident command and control. The system also improved targeted communications to students and staff, strengthened PEEPs evacuation planning, and supported major incident drills and post-exercise reviews. The result was major cost savings versus disparate systems, rapid scalability at no extra cost, improved protection for at-risk groups and lone workers, and a significant culture shift toward proactive safety and security across the university.
