A CriticalArc Case Study
The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, a large academic health center serving over 21,000 employees and 4,275 students across 33 buildings and a complex 3 million square-foot site, needed a force-multiplier for its relatively small police department to improve response to incidents and lone-worker risks. To address this challenge, the campus deployed CriticalArc’s SafeZone service beginning in 2017 to give staff and students a direct, discreet way to call for help and to provide more precise location information than traditional wireless 911.
CriticalArc implemented SafeZone with indoor positioning, silent-call/check-in features, geo‑fenced communications and dispatch integration, plus planned OmniGuard team-management and wrist-worn panic options. The solution has delivered faster, more targeted responses and better coordination with Aurora PD and fire services, expanded campus-wide, and achieved measurable impact such as locating callers floor-by-floor with indoor accuracy within 10 feet and improved safety across the entire campus.
