Case Study: University College London improves student safety and wellbeing with CriticalArc's SafeZone

A CriticalArc Case Study

Preview of the University College London Case Study

UCL protects its reputation as a top global study destination with SafeZone

University College London (UCL), a top‑10 global university protecting 55,000 students and 13,000 staff, needed a modern personal duress and safety platform to replace a limited alarm system and better support vulnerable students and staff. UCL selected CriticalArc’s SafeZone solution to provide an accessible, function‑rich way for anyone to request help and for security teams to coordinate responses.

CriticalArc implemented SafeZone (mobile app and wearable devices) with geofenced coverage across campus, residences and walkways, integrated into UCL’s control room for real‑time location and responder coordination. Rolled out in stages and widely adopted within 18 months, SafeZone improved response times, enabled 24/7 wellbeing support and maintenance reporting, upskilled security staff, and boosted UCL’s student experience and reputation while expanding capabilities within existing resources.
