A CriticalArc Case Study
Swansea University, a dual‑campus institution of about 25,000 people, needed to improve 24/7 command and control, faster response to incidents (especially involving vulnerable students), and mass communications to support evacuation and international travel. To meet those challenges they partnered with CriticalArc and deployed the SafeZone app across both campuses and other sites.
CriticalArc’s SafeZone gives users a one‑tap alert that notifies the closest first responder, geofences international trips to connect to local consular/medical support, and supports Bluetooth pendants for students with serious conditions. Around 20% of Swansea’s community (≈5,000 users) have installed the app, improving situational awareness, speeding personalised responses, enabling mass alerts to all users, and acting as a force multiplier for existing security teams; Swansea is now expanding integrations (CCTV, beacons, bus tracking) to further boost effectiveness.
