Heriot-Watt University - Customer Case Study

Heriot-Watt University, with five campuses including Edinburgh, Dubai and Malaysia, faced the challenge of delivering a consistent, high level of student and staff safety while reorganising its Security Services. After a strategic review the university selected SafeZone from CriticalArc to support its modernised, consolidated security operation.

CriticalArc implemented its SafeZone platform (including the OmniGuard responder app) across all campuses, adding geofencing for transit corridors, a Check‑In lone‑worker feature, and integration with the university’s security management system so alerts are logged automatically. The deployment gives Security Services standardised global processes, greater situational awareness and a complete view of emergency activations across all five campuses, improving resource efficiency, reporting and the university’s appeal to prospective students and parents.
