A CriticalArc Case Study
Edinburgh Napier University, one of Scotland’s top universities for graduate employability, needed to prioritise student and staff safety across three campuses and many off‑site placements while also bolstering mental health and wellbeing support. To modernise its duty of care and lone‑worker safety, the university adopted CriticalArc’s SafeZone platform, using the SafeZone app and wearable duress devices to provide reliable, easy‑to‑use safeguarding for students, counsellors and staff.
CriticalArc’s SafeZone gave Edinburgh Napier real‑time visibility of checked‑in users and available officers in the control room, one‑touch requests for assistance, targeted and mass communications, and location‑based alerts. The platform streamlined security operations, improved response coordination for counsellors and lone workers, extended protection through the SafeZone Alliance Scotland, and contributed to the university winning the 2023 Pride of Napier award — delivering demonstrably more efficient, 24/7 safeguarding with lower maintenance and better value.
