Case Study: AT&S achieves integrated traceability and rapid MES startup for new facility with Critical Manufacturing

A Critical Manufacturing Case Study

Preview of the AT&S Case Study

An Integrated Approach to Traceability for a Fresh Start

AT&S, a leader in high‑end HDI printed circuit boards, faced the challenge of launching a greenfield IC‑substrate facility in China with no historical production data and legacy, fragmented systems that made data collection and product genealogy slow and error‑prone. To meet stringent traceability and automation requirements they evaluated MES vendors and chose Critical Manufacturing’s modular, scalable manufacturing execution and intelligence system to provide an integrated MES for the new plant.

Critical Manufacturing implemented the MES using a phased, sprint‑based rollout with a multidisciplinary AT&S team, building process models, ERP/equipment interfaces, and user training before pilot and launch. The project finished Phase 1 on budget and the MES has since been expanded into an mSAP HDI PCB plant and rolled out to a second Austria plant, delivering faster, more automated traceability, improved data access and a scalable platform for future growth.
