The Government of Mauritius faced challenges with its outdated national identity system, which relied on tamper-prone paper documents and inconsistent, manually-up and establish a single source of truth, the government partnered with vendor CrimsonLogic to implement the Mauritius National ID Scheme (MNIS), which included a secure Central Population Database and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
CrimsonLogic's solution established a secure, trusted foundation for digital services by creating a standardized Central Population Database and issuing new PKI-based smart ID cards to prevent tampering and identity theft. The results provided a reliable system for identification and verification, enabling streamlined e-government transactions and achieving the core objective of 'One Citizen, One Identity' for the Government of Mauritius.
