A Crimson Hexagon Case Study
The New Climate Economy (NCE), the flagship project of the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate, set out to reframe public debate from the costs of climate action to how economic growth and climate action can be achieved together. After a successful 2014 report launch, the team needed a reliable baseline and efficient way to measure shifts in sentiment and conversation across social and traditional media to demonstrate impact and guide outreach.
Using Crimson Hexagon’s social analytics platform, NCE built boolean queries, trained topic categories, and used tools like Topic Waves and audience segmentation to track evolving opinions and who was talking. The analysis — exported and compared across the 11 months before and after the 2014 launch — showed online opinions favoring the compatibility of growth and climate action rose 440%; findings have informed communications, been well received by commissioners, and continue to shape NCE’s outreach.
