A Crick Software Case Study
Oaktree School, a special school serving around 98 students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, struggled to support learners who found reading and writing especially hard due to fine motor challenges and low confidence. Crick Software provided Clicker 7, along with the Widgit Symbols extension, to help students access literacy more effectively and communicate more independently.
With Crick Software’s Clicker 7, staff used Clicker Boards, Sentence Sets, Connect Sets, realistic speech feedback, and the rainbow qwerty keyboard to make writing more accessible and engaging. The results were strong: students began producing whole sentences instead of single words, reluctant writers gained confidence, and one student in particular progressed from avoiding writing altogether to wanting to write much more.
