Case Study: Montgomery Primary School improves reluctant writers’ progress with Crick Software’s Clicker

A Crick Software Case Study

Montgomery Primary School improves writing progress with Crick Software, with some pupils reaching 2–3 bands in just one term

Montgomery Primary School, in collaboration with Birmingham City Council's Pupil & School Support service, faced a challenge with a group of Year 4 SEND learners who were reluctant writers. These pupils struggled to compose simple sentences and translate their ideas onto paper, which hindered their progress according to the Birmingham SEN Toolkit Writing Bands. The school partnered with Crick Software to utilize its Clicker program to address these writing difficulties.

Crick Software's Clicker provided picture support and word banks, which made writing more accessible and motivating for the students. The solution resulted in a dramatic positive shift in the pupils' attitude and output; they went from writing very little to producing full pieces of work. Measurable progress was shown through the toolkit data, with some students achieving a full year's expected progress in just one term using Crick Software's tools.
