A Crick Software Case Study
Micklehurst All Saints Primary School, a primary school in England, faced challenges with student writing engagement and output. Many pupils experienced barriers such as dyspraxia and dyslexia, which were exacerbated after the COVID-19 lockdown, making it difficult for them to record ideas with pen and paper. To address this, the school upgraded its existing software by working with Crick Software to implement a universal Site License for Clicker, which included access to Clicker Writer on iPads both at school and at home.
The solution from Crick Software provided tools like text-to-speech with new voices, a predictor for spelling, and writing grids, which helped students identify mistakes, improve spelling, and focus on content. The results were a significant increase in writing output, greater student independence, and a transformed sense of inclusion and self-esteem. One Year 4 pupil, for example, went from writing a single paragraph to producing long, extended pieces of work. Crick Software's tools revolutionized how students feel about writing and successfully enhanced learning across the school.
