Improving Literacy Skills to Achieve Academic Independence

Special School District of St. Louis County, a large special education provider serving more than 23,000 students across 22 districts, needed ways to improve literacy skills and help students become more academically independent. Working with Crick Software, the district used Clicker 7 to support students with a wide range of cognitive and physical abilities.

Crick Software’s Clicker 7 gave teachers customizable tools to make reading and writing accessible through activities, graphic organizers, visual schedules, and switch-access options. The solution helped students actively participate in class, complete individualized literacy work, and build independence—such as one student using a two-switch setup to read books independently and write daily notes home.
