Highfield School - Customer Case Study

Highfield School, a Foundation Special School serving 11–19-year-old learners with severe learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and complex needs, needed a literacy and writing tool that could support students with a wide range of abilities. They chose Crick Software’s Clicker, after staff had used earlier versions and saw potential for helping students who had very limited literacy as well as those with stronger reading and comprehension skills.

Crick Software’s Clicker was used as a flexible word processor and learning platform, with supports such as visual reinforcement, audio feedback, word banks, and access to LearningGrids resources. Students also created a “Clicker Expert Trainers” program to train staff, including the Principal and Assistant Principal: 30 members of staff were trained through 30-minute sessions led by students. The project boosted students’ functional skills, confidence, and motivation, while giving them a meaningful role as teachers.
