Case Study: Gorseland Primary School improves writing confidence and sentence formation with Crick Software Clicker

A Crick Software Case Study

Gorseland Primary School improves writing since October 2020 with Crick Software

Gorseland Primary School, a mainstream primary with an attached Specialist Support Unit (SSU) for children with moderate learning difficulties, faced challenges supporting reluctant writers and pupils with poor fine motor skills, phonics, and letter formation. They sought a resource from Crick Software, specifically its product Clicker, that would reduce these learning barriers without hindering the children's imaginative ideas and that could also help develop sentence structure for more able pupils.

Crick Software's Clicker provided differentiated writing grids, including Word Banks and Sentence Sets, which were easily adapted to scaffold writing across the curriculum. The solution resulted in a more positive attitude towards writing, improved punctuation, vocabulary, and grammar, and a demonstrable improvement in sentence formation and imaginative language. The school reported that since implementing Clicker in October 2020, some pupils have even progressed to writing without the scaffolds they previously needed.
