At an International Convenience Store Conglomerate, Cribl Stream Paid for Itself by Optimizing Logs—Now It’s Simplifying Compliance and Increasing Business Visibility

International Convenience Store Conglomerate, an international retailer operating 14,000 convenience stores across 20 countries and supplying jet fuel to more than 140 airports, was struggling with rapidly growing log volumes from security devices, servers, and applications across multiple clouds and colocation sites. To better control costs and make more effective use of its Splunk license, the company turned to Cribl Stream from Cribl.

Cribl Stream was used to collect, filter, enrich, and route data before sending only the most relevant events to Splunk and other destinations. The results were significant: Splunk-ingested log volume dropped by about 50%, including a 53% reduction in Windows logs, 61% in Okta logs, 41% in firewall logs, and 40% in Windows Service logs, while onboarding new sources fell from a week to less than an hour. Cribl also helped simplify PCI DSS retention compliance and improved visibility for developers and admins, while reducing cloud egress and license costs.
