A Cresa Case Study
Year Up, a nonprofit that trains disadvantaged urban young adults for professional careers, faced operational strain from three dispersed New York City locations that made board oversight and donor engagement difficult. Year Up engaged Cresa for project management, transaction advisory and workplace analysis to accurately size a single principal Midtown site that could accommodate its educational programming and improve efficiency and donor access.
Cresa’s team performed an intensive analysis of Year Up’s services and space use, identifying up to 25% potential space savings and defining tenancy attributes and infrastructure needs. The Project Management & Transaction team reviewed prospective sites with an eye toward minimal build-out, enabling Year Up to consolidate into a 38,159 SF Midtown location; the move increased operational efficiency, improved donor proximity, and expanded the pool of viable properties thanks to the space efficiencies Cresa uncovered.
