Lionsgate, a major independent entertainment company headquartered in Santa Monica, faced a rapid-growth and consolidation challenge after acquiring Starz in 2016. Needing to integrate Starz into the same location for business continuity, Lionsgate relied on Cresa for Transaction Management (Cresa team: Lawson Martin and James Travers) to manage a complex, long-running expansion that had already grown via 10 lease amendments and a sublease at 2700 Colorado.

When plans to take the last 100,000 sq. ft. vacated by Viacom were disrupted by another tenant’s purchase of 2700/2600 Colorado, Cresa quickly pivoted negotiations to secure space across the street at 2834 Colorado with Jack Walter. As a result, Starz moved into the entire south building this month, Lionsgate gained further expansion rights in the north building, and the company now holds a consolidated Santa Monica footprint of 270,000 sq. ft., preserving operational continuity and enabling continued growth.
