The university's electrical engineer, Joe Branchaw, initiated a long-term, phased project to address this challenge and selected Cree Lighting as the vendor to provide LED area lights for the upgrade.

Cree Lighting implemented its LED area lights to replace the existing metal halide fixtures. The solution resulted in a significant 62% reduction in annual energy consumption and provided superior illumination to enhance student safety. The university continues its campus-wide relighting project with Cree Lighting products.
