NASA upgrades 600,000-square-foot headquarters with Cree Lighting LED troffers

NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, faced the challenge of renovating its 600,000-square-foot headquarters to meet its "green plan" objectives, which included maximizing energy savings and achieving LEED Silver certification. The initial plan was to replace outdated fluorescent fixtures with more efficient T5 fluorescents, but after testing, NASA and property manager Piedmont Office Realty Trust turned to Cree Lighting for a better LED solution.

Cree Lighting implemented its CR22 LED troffers with embedded Lutron dimming technology and a Quantum lighting control system. This new solution provided significant cost savings and helped NASA meet its energy efficiency and sustainability goals. The customer continues to be impressed by the improved lighting quality and the significant savings achieved through the Cree Lighting system.
