MetroTransit upgrades park-and-ride lighting with Cree Lighting in a $133 million UPA transit push

The customer, MetroTransit, a service operated by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Council, faced the challenge of supporting a projected doubling of bus ridership by developing new park and ride facilities. They required an upgraded lighting solution for their parking lots and structures to serve these new transit systems and chose Cree Lighting's LED luminaires over traditional metal halide fixtures.

Cree Lighting provided its LED luminaires as the solution for the lighting upgrades and new construction. This implementation resulted in improved lighting for the I-35W Park & Ride facilities. The project was part of a larger $133 million federal grant aimed at reducing congestion, with approximately $86 million allocated specifically to these transit improvements facilitated by Cree Lighting.
