Duke University lights 1,920-vehicle LEED garage with Cree

Duke University sought to construct an eco-friendly parking facility as part of its sustainability program. The challenge was to create the nation's first LEED-certified parking structure, which required implementing energy-efficient solutions like advanced outdoor LED lighting provided by Cree Lighting.

Cree Lighting implemented its LED luminaires throughout the new garage, installing over 1,000 fixtures. This solution from Cree Lighting significantly reduced the facility's energy use, enabling it to achieve its LEED certification and become a landmark as the first single-use, stand-alone parking facility in the U.S. to earn this designation from the U.S. Green Building Council.
